The Farmers and Landowners Workshop Program focuses on providing critical support for historically underserved Black producers to increase local market opportunities and long-term capacity.

The program provides Support services to landowners and farmers include training, conservation management plans, land use best practices, and application assistance. Workshops are conducted throughout the State virtual and in-person to engage Black farmers and landowners in USDA NRCS funding programs.

The Build Economic Access and Land Opportunity Program recognizes the structural and systemic barriers that has led to social disparities among landowners of color. In partnership with the Conservation Fund and South Carolina Association for Community Economic Development target underserved women, veterans, African Americans, Native Americans, Hispanics and Asians producers with innovative tools and individualized training to overcome key challenges to adopting conservation practices and accessing capital.

Our landowner 101/201 workshops provide customized property information on how to assess major features of landowners’ property and how land practices can generate sustainable income. The program direct technical assistance offers small groups and landowners’ access to government financial assistance. Historically underserved landowners and small farmers are encouraged to contact the Rural Resource Coordinator.

Rural Broadband Access

Rural Broadband Access’ objective is to increase rural communities’ access to broadband.

The Broadband Community Champion Training Initiative Addresses barriers and the lack of broadband access in rural communities. The goal of the initiative is to certify Community Broadband Champions to marshal sustainable support from key community stakeholders.

Our design empowers local leaders to attract service providers and capital to expand rural broadband service. Counties selected to participate are engaged in three (3) training sessions; access, adoption and use of broadband; K-12 education; and healthcare.
